In the
12th century the older church was replaced by the Church of St Peter,
seen above. It is a conventional construction of rubble and ashlar
and much of the existing masonry in the nave and chancel is of this
date.
St Peter's
chancel's on the north side (foreground part of the church in photograph)
has a 12th century respond, perhaps part of the original chancel arch,
which has been reset. On the south side is a doorway of similar date,
whilst above it (and also on the north side) there is a 12th century
corbel-table with grotesque corbel heads.
