Above
the altar of St Mary the Virgin is a large 18th century canvas attributed
to Pompeo Batoni (1708-1787), as seen here, commissioned by the then
Lord of the Manor while on his Grand Tour in Italy. In the centre
of the canvas is a diptych of the Ten Commandments, probably not original,
surrounded by emblems of the Passion of Our Lord. View the next photo
for more detail.
St Mary
the Virgin's 12th century font is circular with interlacing arcading
on a moulded octagonal base of later date.
