In this photo of the exterior of the south aisle, is one of two south doors.

St John the Baptist is home to the Luke Tapestry, which is a tapestry carpet designed and worked by Doctor A. Wood in Penshurst in memory of his father, Doctor C. Wood, who himself was a doctor in the village for more than 50 years. The tapestry is dedicated to Saint Luke, the first Christian physician, whose altar stands in the south aisle of the church. The tapestry was two years in the making and was completed in February 1970. Though it is the work of one pair of hands, several others in the parish assisted with drawings, information, and in other ways.
