St
Edward the Confessor possesses some striking architectural features
including the tower and porch construction.
Opposite
the church porch is the base of a medieval cross. On the west side
of the porch is the upper part of a tapered medieval coffin. This
may have been the part of a stone coffin which had been laid upside
down in the church and used as a base for the font. It was put in
the churchyard in 1856 when the church was restored and the font put
on its present base.
On
the east side of the porch, near the path, is a 14th century chest
tomb (to the right of centre in the photo) which at one time had a
brass figure on top.
