Hempton means high farm. Around 1086 Hempton was known as Henton.

To travel by road to Hempton, take the M40 and exit at Junction 10 (one hour and five minutes from London approx, 55 minutes from Birmingham approx). Take the B430 to Middleton Stoney, turn right at the traffic lights there on to the B4030. Carry straight on to Lower Heyford, and turn left at the crossroads towards the railway station, still on the B4030. When you reach the traffic lights at Hopcrofts Holt, turn right on to the A4260, and carry straight on until you reach Deddington. Follow the road into Deddington and you will reach traffic lights. Turn left at the traffic lights on to the B4031 and the next village you reach is Hempton.
