Croughton means the farmstead or village on the fork of land. In 1086 Croughton was known as Creveltone.

To travel by road to Croughton, use the M40. Exit east at Junction 10 on to the A43. Half a mile brings you to a roundabout, and turn left there on to the B4100, signposted Aynho. After approximately three miles turn right on to the B4031 directly to Croughton. Alternatively, when you have turned on to the A43 from Junction 10 of the M40, continue straight on at the roundabout and look for signposts to Croughton on the left after about a mile and a half.
