There
is not much to see at Astrop, and a passing motorist could be forgiven
for missing it altogether. Like other nearby hamlets and villages,
Astrop was probably depopulated by the Black Death, and the enclosure
of arable fields in the late 14th and 15th centuries may have also
contributed to loss of inhabitants.
